My thoughts… Run is a really cool short horror film! It’s kind of like It Follows. The best part is when Suzanne gets back up after being hit by the car. The creepiest part is when Suzanne hugs her mother in the end. The “VHS Version” is fun to watch, too. Oh, and Mari Beaseley is adorable! Good work!
Run (2016) Demonic Horror Short Review
Let me start by saying that this is a tightly packed, tense horror short that cranks up the tension like a pair of medieval thumbscrews. Without wasting any time, Young kicked things off in a chase that still feels like it’s going on. I loved the nod to horror films of yore with the flashing cigarette burns. What a great touch! Good girl Suzanne’s (Mari Beaseley) transformation – or was it there just beneath the surface the whole time? – was great! I can’t wait to see where she ends up next. The other actors were a bit mediocre – especially the driver of the car – but Mari did a fabulous job conveying her terror from this demonic assault.
Mari was cast in our short horror film "Run" and from the first meeting we knew we were working with a dedicated, talented and very professional actress, her audition tape absolutely surpassed any expectations we had and because of her talent we wrote extra scenes and dialogue for her character. Whilst shooting "Run" she proved to be a very down to earth person who was an absolute joy to work with and she constantly threw herself into the role and wanted to deliver the best possible performance she could. As a Director she was a dream to work with as with very little explanation or rehearsal time she knew exactly what we needed for the part and was able to deliver an incredible performance. Always professional and willing to go the extra mile for the part. We consider ourselves extremely lucky to have worked with her and as a result we worked with her again recently on another short film. I speak for my whole production team when I say we wouldn't hesitate to work with her again should the opportunity arise.

"Mari was a pleasure to work with, on time, polite and mature in nature. She has a great look for catwalk and commercial work. Thank you Mari and shall be booking you again soon.
Alexander Thorn Director - "Im Cold"
Mari is a young and highly competent actor. She is extremely reliable and takes direction in a highly collaborative way, open to discussing ideas and trying out different performances. For me it's the subtle moments in acting that I find the most impressive and give the best level of depth and emotion to a film and it's a joy editing both films I have worked on with Mari and discovering those moments that take it from a good performance, to a great performance. Above all Mari is so passionate about her craft and always open to learning and improving, an essential skill at her age. She shows 100 percent trust in me as a Director which I value hugely. I am sure I will be working with Mari in future projects.
